FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(Under Construction)
What supplies will I need for our trip home with our new Pet?
What you will need will very with how far you are traveling and your mode of transportation. But in general, a puppy or a kitten will need a safe and suitable carrier and access to water. It is best to withhold food or give sparingly if the travel is further, too avoid motion sickness.
Can we visit our pet before they come home?
We love it when prospective owners come and visit our cattery! We believe it is very important to see where and how your newest addition has been raised. However, we do control who has access to our little ones. Once a deposit has been paid and the babies are old enough to have had their first set of needles and their immune systems are strong enough for visitations, we will start booking appointments, We encourage you to come and get to know your new baby or babies! We do ask that you book an appointment so that we can ensure there are no other families visiting at the same time.

How do we introduce our new pet to our current pets and children?
When bringing any new pet into your home, it is always best to keep him/her in a single room away from your other pets and children. Give them access to the carrier that they arrived in as a source of comfort and familiarity. They also need access to a litter box, one that they can easily climb in and out of, the food that they were raised on and of course, water. You will want to use dishes that have low sides for easier access (this may change as your pet grows, pets that begin to put on an unhealthy amount of weight should be moved to higher sided bowls to discourage over eating). After a few hours in the room (or over night) put all of your other pets in a separate area (children should also not be included quite yet) so your newest little family member can tour the house without the stress and fear of any introductions just yet. This allows them to scent the other members of the house hold and get a lay of the land. Once they have had a couple hours to wonder the home, put them back into the quite room with their things. Take this time to allow the other members of the household back in so your other pets can scent the newest addition (Pay attention to how they react, watch for signs of aggression), keeping everyone safe. When you feel everyone is ready, introduce 1 family member at a time so that it is not overwhelming for anyone ( I personally use a baby gate to control the initial meetings. this allows them to see, smell and interact while keeping everyone safe from aggressive behavior). When introducing children, have them sit quietly and go over the ground rules (ie. quiet, calm, gentle etc.). allow the newcomer to walk among them and investigate. Only you will be able to make the call as to when everyone is good. for the first few days especially, pay close attention to everyone's interactions. In no time at all, happiness should reign!!
